Selected printed media extracts
NEW YORK ARTS SEPT/OCT 2004 - by K?ìAN JEFF BAYSA
..."PlanetPaul's close encounter with the Manhattan art world is an auspicious and solid first landing."

CAPE TIMES - by Stanley Hermans
..."Du Toit's initial career trajectory originated in the faux Picasso tilt to th e figurative distortions. Perhaps he should put the whole Picasso parody thing behind him, since the work more than holds its own self."

THE WEEKLY MAIL & GUARDIAN - by Chris Roper
..."If you look at them, you see pleasure, gaiety and colour. If you really look at them, you see torture, obsession and repression. Perhaps Du Toit's work is more of a reflection of reality than most people imagine."

CAPE ARGUS 2000 - by Roz Wrottesley
Paul du Toit, a man on the brink of the big league .... "the real breakthrough comes with the 70 over 2000 Exhibition, when Paul will be one of 70 international artists chosen to be part of a touring exhibition to 14 countries celebrating the life and work of 70-year-old Professor Richard Demarco, chairman of the Demarco European Art Foundation and Director of the first Edinburgh Festival." The "70 over 2000" exhibition opens in London in March and goes onto the Edinburgh Festival 2000, the National Arts Centre in Malta and then top galleries and museums in the United Kingdom, Europe and North America. Paul is contributing a set of seven works he calls seven pillars of sound wisdom, symolising Demarco's contribution to world art. Considering that Demarco sees the work of thousands of artists every month, Paul's presence among some of Europe's most famous avant-garde artists is truly staggering.

CAPE REVIEW OC TOBER 1998
"Paul has entered the art scene with such a force of energy and controversy that these elements often threaten to over shadow his art. His denatured forms and faces are strongly inspired by naive children's art and is reminiscent of Picasso, but it is this unique positive energy that has attracted buyers and collectors from around the world. Positive, bright and inspiring art is often criticised by art critics, but the pure element of joy and freedom always wins."

FILMFINESSE JAN 1999
"..... the fluid line and beautiful compositions that mark his work is more reminiscent of a painter such as Miro."

FRONT ROW APRIL 1999 (DSTV magazine programme)
"Revolutionary artist Paul du Toit!"
