P R E S S R E L E A S E For immediate release Solo Exhibition of new paintings and sculptures 34 Long is pleased to announce an exhibition of new paintings and sculptures by Paul du Toit. The exhibition entitled, Highly Charged, is the artist's first solo exhibition at the gallery and in the works on show Paul explores the energy and movement of his highly charged images that spawn of each other. Over the last ten years Paul has built up a forest of symbols, his own alphabet of awkward scrawls that constantly feed of one another. Re-invention is fuelled by a search for new marks and lines that form starting points for new works of art. These images form the blueprints that inspire his monumental sculptures. "I think of it as having one artwork that I keep on adding to." To see more about what inspires Paul, watch the film some strange alphabet. A fully illustrated catalogue with essays will accompany the exhibition. Paul du Toit was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1965. Over the last few years he has begun to establish himself further a field in New York and more recently in China where major exhibitions of his work will take place in 2007 and 2008. He lives and works in Hout Bay, South Africa. Please contact the gallery for more information. 0027.21.426.4594 |
